Director Of Internship Program
John Anderson has spent most of his professional career in teaching and educational administration. John received graduate degrees from Loyola Chicago and Harvard University, and for the past 18 years has specialized in student career path advising and employment placement for undergraduate and graduate students. Most recently John has directed the internship program for students in the College of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Previously he has worked with students and educators as a teacher and educational administrator in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio. He has served on many private college preparatory school boards, as well as the board of the University of Illinois Alumni Career Center.
Director of Experiential Learning
Rita has been helping UIC Business students with academic and career aspirations for over 18 years. As the Director of Experiential Learning, Rita and her team create and implement programs that help students prepare for future internships to be career ready. The Experiential Learning team provides programs for students to explore career options, plan out how they will achieve their goals, and connect students to the Chicagoland Business Community. Some of the programs include Mock Interviews, Resume Reviews, Site Visits, Speaker series and the Alumni4U program. Rita is proud to be UIC and has earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from UIC. .
Director of Corporate Engagement
Nicolas forges new, and maintains established, relationships within the business community in an effort to secure internship and full-time opportunities for business students. He brings corporate partners and alumni back on campus to share their insider knowledge and practical insight into the workplace. Nicolas works alongside his engagement team to provide quality programming to better prepare UIC business students for all opportunities on the horizon. Nicolas has over 15 years of professional work experience in higher education, spent increasing enrollment and improving retention. Nicolas enjoys running and training for road races in his spare time.
Special Events Facilitator
With over 20 years of professional experience, Mary has worked in social, corporate and academic settings. At UIC, she uses her trademark skills of problem solving, creativity, and flexibility to produce exceptional events and meetings. She excels at logistics and operations, and her attention to detail means that events and meetings go smoothly from concept to completion. As a project manager, she specializes in customer service that nurtures positive, productive relationships with all parties.
Mary holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University and is currently pursuing an MBA with UIC Business. Her background includes serving as a Marketing and Adult Program Manager at the Evergreen Park Public Library, Owner/Operator of a Young Rembrandts Franchise, and a Marketing Specialist at a Global 500 company. Mary’s a Mom of 4 beautiful children and enjoys playing volleyball and wallyball, watching rugby, listening to live music, meeting new people, and traveling.
Alma manages all aspects of financial management and operations for the department. She has supported the BCC in just about every conceivable area and is an expert at getting things done. Her career background includes 8 years in the banking industry with positions ranking from bank teller to branch manager and 3 years in the non-profit industry performing office management and event planning. Alma has been with UIC for over 5 years, all within the College of Business. In her free time, Alma enjoys being a soccer and dance mom to her young daughter, Alexa.
Nancy works with Accounting and Finance majors to develop their career plans through career exploration. She advises students on career services best practices including resume and cover letter development; job search/preparation strategies, professional branding, networking, and mock interviews. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Master of Science in Higher Education- Student Affairs from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb Illinois. Nancy’s background stems primarily from academic and career advisement and leadership development. Prior to starting her role at UIC, Nancy worked as a college advisor at Harry S Truman College- One of the City Colleges of Chicago. During her spare time, she enjoys working on DIY projects, cooking authentic Ghanaian foods and trying new foods across the city of Chicago. Gaby works with Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship majors on issues ranging from career exploration, resume writing, and LinkedIn profiles to mock interviews, search strategy, and salary negotiation. She is an alumna of UIC, having graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Latin American and Latino studies. Gaby enjoys watching Walking Dead, Shameless, and Modern Family in her spare time.
Bridget O'Connell spent 13 years at a Fortune 500 company, starting as an engineering intern and transitioning to sales and management roles. She found her calling in career advising and is now enthusiastically helping students of all backgrounds discover and demonstrate their potential for career success. She will obtain her Master's in Higher Education Administration from Northwestern University in June. When she isn't advising students, she spends time wrangling her rambunctious toddler son, hiking, and exploring Chicago neighborhoods. Favorite career preparation tip: “Don’t wing it!”
Tracy Warner is a UIC alum with over 20 years of experience in recruitment and compensation. She earned a Bachelor's degree in marketing and Master of Business Administration from The University of Illinois at Chicago. She leads the Business Career Center with a strategic focus on talent development, corporate engagement and alumni relations. Promoting the recruitment of highly talented students from Chicago's no. 1 undergraduate Business program is her top priority. She is proud to be from UIC.
Receptionist and Departmental Information Supervisor
Camelia Williams has contributed to diverse departments of the University of Illinois over the past 35 years. She joined the College of Business Administration in 1997. Camelia is the receptionist and Departmental Information Supervisor for the Business Career Center. Camelia formerly served on the UIC Staff Advisory Council which is the bridge between the university administration and civil service work force and the Janice Watkins Committee which identifies and recognizes exceptional support staff for their distinguished civil service. Camelia enjoys family oriented activities, smooth jazz and is an active member of the Southside Unity CoC.
