Dear Students,
UIC Business is committed to serving our students, faculty and staff with their health and well-being in mind. The following information provides additional information and details regarding next steps for the fall 2020 semester.
If you have symptoms related to a possible coronavirus (COVID-19) infection or believe that you may have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19, please call our student health center at (312) 996-2901. It is important that you call so that the clinic staff can talk to you about your concerns and what the best next steps are for you.

As plans for the fall 2020 semester continue to evolve, below are some key things to keep in mind when selecting and registering for classes.
Registration
- If you have not done so already, meet or connect with their adviser to receive course recommendations.
- If you wish to add or drop courses, contact your adviser.
- A full list of undergraduate in-person classes can be found on the Undergraduate Student Government website.
Enrollment
- Students should have the ability to participate in their courses remotely by meeting basic technology requirements
- Instructors will share course requirements and other pertinent information on Blackboard and in the syllabus – closer to the start of the fall semester.

Classes
In an effort to ensure your educational needs are being met during this time away from the physical classroom experience, we encourage you to provide constructive feedback on your online classroom experience by emailing uicbusinessofficial@uic.edu or filling out the form lower on this page.
To help with your course selections, below are some terms you will see and what they mean.
All courses are listed in the BANNER XE course schedule as either online (ARR Online) or on campus (room appears in the schedule).
- On Campus, is fully on campus and has a classroom scheduled, students may come to campus or elect to participate remotely. If students participate remotely, they must inform the instructor at the beginning of the semester so they can view recorded lectures, and take quizzes and exams online.
- Online (two modes of class delivery):
- Asynchronous: No day/time(s) listed. Students will participate in class by following the course requirements outlined in the syllabus. No meeting times are required.
- Synchronous: Day/time(s) listed. Students will be expected to logon for lectures, group work, etc. Meeting times are required.

Student Services
This year has brought about many changes, including shifting to online learning. The Office for Advising Development has put together Tips for Adjusting to Online Learning to help you in this transition.
Undergraduate Student Services
The Undergraduate Student Services team will provide a variety of formats to meet your advising needs during this critical time. We will be able to work with you in the following formats on Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Email Advising – send an email to your adviser with any questions. You should expect a response within 3 business days.
- Online advising is available using a variety of platforms. Meeting platforms allow students to participate virtually, including video capabilities as well as the ability to review documents with your adviser.
- Please schedule your appointment as you normally would, using iAdvise located in your my.uic.edu portal, under the “Advising” tab. After you schedule your appointment, your adviser will send supporting documentation with directions on how to access the meeting.
- Tutoring is available by visiting the Business Learning Center and making an appointment directly with a tutor.
- You can stay connected to us by calling (312) 996-2700 or by emailing bizadvising@uic.edu.
Graduate Student Services
The Graduate Student Services team will provide a variety of formats to meet your advising needs during this critical time. We will be able to work with you in the following formats on Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Email Advising – send an email to your adviser with any questions. You should expect a response within 3 business days.
- Online advising is available using a variety of platforms. Meeting platforms allow students to participate virtually, including video capabilities as well as the ability to review documents with your adviser.
- Please schedule your appointment as you normally would, using Inner Loop. After you schedule your appointment, your adviser will send supporting documentation on how to access the meeting.
- Tutoring is available via email. Please contact Hamza Awadallah for ACTG 500 and Jeremy Mandel for FIN 500.

ACCC Technology & Campus Resources
Please consult ACCC to find the resources and support that you need. Student Focused support can be found in their Academic Continuity Student section. Please stay in communication with your instructors and advisers for course specific information.
STUDENTS IN NEED OF COMPUTER / INTERNET ACCESS: As noted in the March 28 announcement to students, to successfully continue your studies in an online format, you need reliable access to the internet and to a computer and/or mobile device. If you do not have reliable access to a computer an/or internet access to participate in your online classes, please visit go.uic.edu/academic-continuity-students to review opportunities that may be available to you.
All student support services will be open including the libraries, dining services, recreation facilities and computer labs, although they may be on a different schedule, which will be posted on UIC’s COVID-19 webpage. Residence halls will remain open to serve students who choose to remain on campus.

Business Career Center
The Business Career Center will continue to serve UIC Business students via phone and email during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Please login to UICcareers.com to schedule your career advising appointment.
- Once scheduled, your career coach will call you at your scheduled date and time to conduct your advising appointment by phone. Please make sure your phone number is updated on your UICcareers.com profile.
During this time, we encourage the continuous use of UICcareers.com for your internship and job search needs. As employers transition to interviewing by phone, the Business Career Center advisors are available to assist you with a mock phone interview. The Business Career Center can be reached at bcc@uic.edu or (312) 996-5139.

Wellness Resources
UIC Counseling Center (312-996-3490) offers free short-term mental health care for enrolled UIC students. They also assist with referrals to community providers for longer-term care on a sliding scale fee basis, when needed. The Counseling Center’s website offers a wealth of information helpful to students and those concerned for them, including short self-assessments to help you gauge your symptoms.
The Disability Resource Center (DRC) (312-413-2183) staff assists students with diagnosed medical and mental health conditions to obtain learning accommodation services essential to student success.
U and I Care: The U and I Care Program is an initiative of the Office of the Dean of Students to identify resources and provide assistance to students dealing with personal hardship. The program educates the campus community about services and programs on and off campus. The program empowers students and university personnel to take action in supporting the UIC community.
UIC Wellness Center supports student learning, academic success, and retention by providing wellness services that promote healthy attitudes and behaviors, empower students to make informed choices, and enhance holistic well-being. The Wellness Center also includes the Pop-Up Pantry, to combat food insecurity among students at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
