We want to help our new students make the transition to grad school as smoothly as possible. To guide you on your way, we've created this page specifically for new graduate students. The checklist will help guide you through some of the steps to be completed prior to registering for classes. For questions, please contact us.

Congratulations on your acceptance into the UIC Business Liautaud Graduate School. We are thrilled to welcome you as a student.

Submit Your Intent to Enroll (ITE)
To secure your seat and begin your registration process, you must first submit your Intent To Enroll (ITE) and pay a $250 non-refundable enrollment deposit. This deposit will be credited to your student account at the start of the semester. Log into your application to complete your ITE and pay your deposit.

Activate Your My.UIC.edu Account
The student portal My.UIC.edu is where you can register for classes and access your financial and academic records. Please visit the Newly Admitted Students page for more information on accessing the student portal.

Attend Onboarding
All new students are required to attend a fun and informative New Student Onboarding program hosted by faculty, advisers and current students. New Student Onboarding is held before school starts every semester. There will be a series of very important presentations in which representatives from UIC Business will provide information about your time at UIC. The invitation, as well as more details about advising and course registration, will be sent to you via email after you have submitted your ITE form and paid your enrollment deposit.
Please note, international students are also required to attend another Orientation from the Office of International Services.

Meet With Your Academic Adviser
A designated academic adviser will be assigned to you based on your degree program. They will help you select your classes for your first semester and answer any questions you may have to ensure you will have a smooth transition into the program. Information regarding advising options will be emailed to you after you have submitted your ITE and deposit.

Register For Classes
Please note, in order to register you must first meet with your academic adviser. When you are ready to register:
- Log into my.uic.edu with your NetID and password.
- Click on the Student/Faculty/Staff Self Service link.
- From the next screen choose the Registration & Records option. Then click on the Registration link.
- Click on the Add/Drop Courses link to register for courses.
You will need the 5 digit CRN of each course you want to register for. The CRN can be found alongside the course name in the class schedule, which can be found on each graduate degree program page.
*If you are an international student, you must first contact the Office of International Services located in room 2160 of the Student Services Building to submit immigration documents to OIS and official transcripts to the admissions office to have the hold removed from their record before registering for classes.

Purchase Textbooks
You will find the book requirement for each course on My.UIC.edu after registering for classes. You could rent, buy, or borrow your books, depending on your preference.
The UIC Bookstore is a great resource, where you will find new, used, and rental options. The bookstore also has a book buyback program at the end of every semester.

Pick Up Your CTA U-Pass and UIC i-card
Visit the UIC ID Center, your one-stop shop for university students‚ faculty‚ staff and visitors identification card needs, including the Dragon Dollar$ program‚ the CTA U-Pass program‚ and provide assistance with all facets of using your university issued ID on campus.
