Guaranteed/Preferred Admissions Requirements

UIC Business offers a collection of preferred and guaranteed graduate admissions programs that put qualified students on the fast track to admission. No matter which program you are interested in, you may be eligible for one of these highly respected programs. View the requirements for each program below:

MS Business Analytics – Preferred Admissions (PABA):

  • UIC Information and Decision Sciences (IDS) undergraduates who:
    • Have completed 90 hours overall,
    • Have a GPA of 3.00/4.00 in the CBA core (200, 270, 355) courses, and
    • Have a GPA of 3.00/4.00 in at least three IDS major courses

  • UIC College of Business Administration (CBA) non-IDS undergraduates who:
    • Have completed 90 hours overall,
    • Have an overall GPA of 3.00/4.00, and
    • Have a GPA of 3.00/4.00 in the CBA core (200, 270, 355) courses

  • UIC/UIUC* non-CBA undergraduates who:
    • Have completed 90 hours overall,
    • Have an overall GPA of 3.00/4.00, and
    • Have a GPA of 3.00/4.00 in three introductory courses, one each in database, systems analysis and design, and programming.*

UIC and UIUC students or alumni (graduated within five years of applying) with a cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.00 and a GPA of 3.00/4.00 in selected IDS-related courses will be waived from the GMAT or GRE requirement.
A student qualifying under PABA need not (a) take the GMAT or GRE, and (b) submit recommendation letters. Once a student is admitted under PABA, he/she will be automatically enrolled in the MSBA program after receiving the undergraduate degree only if a minimum overall GPA of 3.00/4.00 has been maintained during the last 60 hours of the undergraduate program.


*This requirement only applies if an applicant has taken any of these courses. These courses are not required to qualify for PABA.

MS Accounting – Guaranteed Admissions (GAMSA)

  • UIC accounting undergraduates who (1) have completed 90 hours overall and 12 hours in accounting courses at 300- or 400-level and (2) have an overall GPA of 3.25 and a GPA of 3.00 from all accounting courses taken.
  • Other UIC undergraduates who (1) have completed 90 hours overall and (2) have an overall GPA of 3.25 and a GPA of 3.00 from any accounting courses taken.
  • If already a graduate of UIC, a UIC undergraduate degree must have been received in the 16 months prior to the intended start of the MSA.

MS Marketing – Guaranteed Admissions (GAMSM)


The UIC Liautaud Graduate School of Business offers Guaranteed Admissions to MS-Marketing. University of Illinois students or alumni (from the three campuses (UIC, UIUC, and UIS) who have graduated from any undergraduate, graduate or professional program within 3 years of start of program) with a cumulative GPA of
3.25 out of 4.00 will be waived of GMAT and GRE requirements and guaranteed admissions into the program provided all other requirements are met. Complete applications for guaranteed admissions must be submitted by the specified deadline to qualify for guaranteed admissions.

MS Management Information Systems – Guaranteed Admissions (GAMIS)

  • UIC Information and Decision Sciences (IDS) undergraduates who:
    • Have completed 90 hours overall,
    • Have a GPA of 3.00/4.00 in the CBA core (200, 270, 355) courses, and
    • Have a GPA of 3.00/4.00 in at least three IDS major courses

  • UIC College of Business Administration (CBA) non-IDS undergraduates who:
    • Have completed 90 hours overall,
    • Have an overall GPA of 3.00/4.00, and
    • Have a GPA of 3.00/4.00 in the CBA core (200, 270, 355) courses

  • UIC/UIUC* non-CBA undergraduates who:
    • Have completed 90 hours overall,
    • Have an overall GPA of 3.00/4.00, and
    • Have a GPA of 3.00/4.00 in three introductory courses, one each in database, systems analysis and design, and programming.*

    • A student qualifying under GAMIS need not (a) take the GMAT, and (b) submit recommendation letters. Master of Science in Supply Chain and Operations Management


University of Illinois Students, or alumni (from the three campuses: Chicago, Champaign, and Springfield) who have graduated from any undergraduate, graduate or professional program (within 5 years of applying), with a cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.00 will be waived of GMAT/GRE requirement and guaranteed admissions into the program provided all other admissions requirements are met.
Complete applications for guaranteed admissions must be submitted by the specific deadline to qualify for guaranteed admissions.
