Patricia Martinez is a Program Integrity and Evaluation Specialist at the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB), an independent agency in the executive branch of the Federal Government, where her primary function is to review the quality work of unemployment and sickness claims processed from the Sickness and Unemployment Benefits Section (SUBS). The experience gained from her previous position at the RRB as a Claims Specialist contributed to her extensive knowledge to make proper determinations on payments of sickness and unemployment benefits for railroad workers under the Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act. Patricia has held various roles in different industries which have provided her with significant growth professionally, transferable skill sets, and allowed her to become versatile. Patricia has a master’s of education in instructional leadership and a bachelor of science in business management, both degrees are from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Patricia is a student advocate whose passion is to create a difference by providing feedback, guidance, and sharing her knowledge through volunteering at UIC campus events. Patricia strongly believes in Jane Goodall’s quote, “What you do makes a difference, but you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” Patricia carries out her difference by motivating and helping students in achieving their educational and professional goals.
